Fake customer care numbers

RememberHelpline number? Only from the official app or card.

Example from the test

Your bank card is not working. Which number should you call for help?

  • The first number that comes up on Google
  • The number on the back of your card or in the official bank app
  • A number someone posted in a Facebook comment

Answer: The number on the back of your card or in the official bank app. Scammers put fake helpline numbers on Google and social media. The number on your card or in the bank's own app is the real one.

"To get your refund, please install the RustDesk app and share your screen with me."

Answer: Scam. Real customer care never asks you to install a screen-sharing app. With it they can watch you type your PIN.
