UPI: PIN means money goes out

To RECEIVE money, you never need to enter your PIN or scan a QR code.
If the app asks for your PIN, money is going OUT of your account.
"I sent money by mistake, please return it" messages are often tricks. Check your bank balance first.

RememberPIN entered = money gone.

Example from the test

Ramesh Kumar has sent you ₹5,000. Enter your UPI PIN to RECEIVE the money.

Answer: Scam. You never need a PIN to receive money. Entering the PIN here sends ₹5,000 out of your account.

You paid your electricity bill yourself a minute ago. Then you see:

₹1,240 debited from A/c XX4521 for electricity bill. Available balance ₹18,460.

Answer: Safe. This matches what you did yourself, and it has no link and no request. It is just information.
